Dr. Peggy Burke is a board certified specialist in Obesity Medicine as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABom). She is also a member of the Canadian Association of Bariatric Surgeons and Physicians (CABPS) and the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA).
Dr. Burke attends medical education events and conferences regularly and utilizes the most up to date approaches to weight management in the clinic. She is passionate about providing a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment for her patients.
Dr. Burke has a special interest in providing pre and post-operative care for bariatric surgery patients. She is trained in saline fill adjustments for adjustable gastric lap band bariatric surgery.
Dr. Burke is also an advanced cosmetic injector and member of the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine. As a medical professional skilled in this area, she provides treatments that give natural refreshed results. She is also a skilled Therapeutic Botox treatment provider.
Dr. Harry J. Lefebre, M.D.
Dr. Harry J. Lefebre M.D., Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity (DABom.)
Dr. H. Lefebre founded his Calgary Weight Control Clinic in March 1988 after practicing family medicine in Calgary. It was the first medical practice limited to obesity (bariatric) treatment in Western Canada. Dr. Lefebre (in 1990) became the first physician in Canada to obtain Diplomate status with the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
“Bariatric Medicine is the medically supervised treatment of obesity and it is associated conditions”. The term, bariatric, was derived from the Greek word “weight” and coined by several interested physicians in 1950 when they formed the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP), now the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). The OMA advocates a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to the treatment of obesity.
Dr. Lefebre is now enjoying retirement and continues to support the clinic, now known as the Medical Weight Management Clinic
